Waterloo, Wisconsin Located along the meandering Maunesha River, historic Waterloo is waiting to share a piece of Americana in any season. Home of Trek Bicycle Corp., Waterloo embraces those who seek outdoor adventure. Waterloo’s 40-acre Fireman’s Park is located in the city’s center. Enjoy biking through the park, or stop to enjoy disc golf, playgrounds, our pristine baseball/softball complex, and fishing. In the winter months, the park’s array of hills offers some of the best sledding around. The park is also the home of a 100-year-old C.W. Parker Carousel, one of only 150 left in the United States. This city treasure is listed on the State and National Registers of Historic Places and is currently under restoration. Join fun and festivities on September 10, 2011 as the city celebrates the 52nd annual Wiener and Kraut Day, a community wide celebration of Waterloo’s heritage that includes music, food, family activities and a city-wide rummage sale. Incredible Surroundings Waterloo is surrounded by natural wonders, including marsh areas and woodlands perfect for nature walks and bird watching. Tucked away near the outskirts of the city you’ll find Garman’s Woods. The 40-acre plot is one of the highest points in the county and contains 22 ancient Native American burial mounds. The Waterloo Wildlife Area located one mile east of Waterloo has 6,179 acres of public hunting land. The principal wildlife of the area are: pheasants, rabbits, furbearers, squirrels, ducks, deer, turkeys, and sandhill cranes. Enjoy the ride The Trek 100 Ride for Hope rides into the city on June 11, 2011, and it all starts at the bike maker’s headquarters in Waterloo. Since 1990, the Trek 100 has contributed $8.0 million to support pediatric cancer and related blood disorder research thanks to riders, donors, sponsors and volunteers. 100, 62, 36 or 19-mile routes are organized to be fun, yet challenging for riders of all ages and skill levels.
