July 17, 2010  ―  Wisconsin Aquaculture Association's Third Annual State Wide Open House

Rushing Waters Fishery and 11 other fish farms thoughout the state will be open to the public to observe "AQUACULTURE DAY", promoting Wisconsin aquaculture and explaining the importance of locally grown, fresh, safe fish. All of them will give a tour of their facility and explain what they do – providing a chance for people to learn firsthand about fish farming. Alice in Dairyland is also helping to celebrate this event by making an appearance at Rushing Waters Fisheries and giving a presentation on Aquaculture in Wisconsin.

Farms that are open include, fee fishing and stocking operations, a research facility, aquaponics and others. Free events at individual fish farms include farm tours, demonstrations, talks on fish, cooking demonstrations with recipes, pond management and weed control. Some farms will also have fish products (fresh, smoked, and spreads) for sampling and sale or offer fee fishing - a fun time for the family and a great opportunity to buy fresh Wisconsin produced food from a local farmer.
